Occupied

Occupied consists of 25 digital photographs of Paris street intersections. These streets are the ones blocked by students around the Sorbonne at the climax of the student occupation movement in Paris in 1968. The images are blurred (done in-camera) as a distancing effect – we can’t get back to that time of great social agency.  I am interested in the idea that theoretically and physically the second something is defined or occupied, it asks to be dismantled and ceases to exist. There is an inability to hold it or maintain a moment.
